“Wait why is my booking cheaper now” That was my first thought when I saw the refund email. I booked my car on QEEQ for a trip to Bari in Italy at the end of June. I chose a Fiat 500 with automatic gear. A small two door four seat car. Just right for me and my friend. I will say the result first. I did nothing and still saved some money. The story actually starts from that email later on. One day I was on my phone and I saw an email from them that said there was a price change on my booking. My first reaction was that they wanted to charge me more. My heart dropped a bit. I opened it and it said they were giving me money back. The email said the price went down and the Price Drop Protector gave me a refund of the difference. I kind of laughed in my head. The name sounds very big but it really saved me money. I checked my booking again. I was picking up the car in Bari airport one afternoon at the end of June around three o clock. I would return it in early July around two in the afternoon. The time was very normal. When I made the booking I did not think much about this service. I just felt it did not cost extra so there was nothing to lose if I added it. I only wanted to make sure the car was booked and not worry about no car later. Later I got very curious about how much I saved. I did some simple math in my head. It was a few euros. It is not a huge number but it is enough for two cups of coffee there. When I told my friend he thought I was joking. He said “You did nothing and they sent you money back” I said “Yes I just clicked the service and left it there. Then one day I got a message that I saved money.” What I remember clearly is that I did not change the booking again. I did not make a new booking myself. For me there were only two steps. First I made the booking. Later I got a message that said I spent less. I have no idea how they checked the price or how they rebooked it. I cannot see that part and I do not really care. The only thing that matters is that the money came back. Around that time I logged in to my account and looked at the booking page. The final price was a bit lower than what I remembered at the start. That made me feel more sure it was real. It felt like finding money in an old pocket. Not a huge surprise but a small and real happy moment. I am still a student so I care a lot about my travel budget. When I first booked the car I even thought about changing to a cheaper model. But I really wanted to drive a Fiat 500 because it feels more like Italy. With this refund I felt that choosing the Price Drop Protector was a smart move. It was like someone I cannot see helped me bargain in the background. One time I told my mom about this on a video call. She asked me if it was some kind of scam. She did not believe a platform would send money back by itself. I sent her a screenshot of the bill. After she saw it she just said it seemed reliable. I also found it funny because people always complain about extra fees from platforms. This time it was the platform that helped me save money. For me the biggest feeling from this experience is that I did not need to watch the price all the time. I did not need to compare prices again and again. After some days I even forgot about this thing. When the trip got closer I suddenly had a bit more budget. Maybe I can use it for a nicer seafood meal in Bari. That small change already makes the trip feel better.
